Time for a Happy Dance! Grandma Caroline Stanwood appears in Northfield, Minnesota!

Nearly fourteen years ago I posted (um, more like lamented) about my 3x great grandmother who seemed to completely disappear after the 1885 census. (Original post here.) I strongly suspected she was still alive in 1893 even though she was not listed as a survivor in the death announcement of her mother, Mary (Scott) White (Northfield News, 14 January 1893).

Well, last night I learned my hunch was right. Thanks to the Minnesota Newspaper Hub I was able to retrieve an article published in Northfield News on 3 March 1894:

Mrs. D. Stanwood, who has been suffering with a cancer, underwent a surgical operation the other day, for its removal. The operation was performed by Dr. A. J. Schmidt and was so successful that the patient gives evidence of complete recovery.
